What is Oxygen Scavenger?
An oxygen scavenger removes dissolved oxygen from boiler feed water so it cannot cause pitting corrosion in feed lines, economisers and boiler tubes. ZEELCHEM's sulphite-based liquid scavenger is dosed at 18 mL per m³ for each ppm of oxygen and suits low- and medium-pressure boilers.

Oxygen Scavenger overview
Dissolved oxygen is the main cause of pitting in low and medium-pressure boilers. ZEELCHEM oxygen scavenger reacts rapidly with oxygen to form harmless sulphate, protecting feed lines and boiler surfaces and improving resistance to caustic embrittlement.
It is suitable for food-industry boilers where heavy-metal catalysts cannot be used.
How Oxygen Scavenger works
Sulphite reacts with dissolved oxygen to form harmless sulphate (2SO₃²⁻ + O₂ → 2SO₄²⁻), removing the oxygen before it reaches steel surfaces.

Handling, storage and safety
Formulated water-treatment blend: wear goggles and gloves while handling and dosing. Keep containers closed, upright and in shade at 5–40 °C. Do not mix concentrates of different chemicals — dose each through its own line. Refer to the MSDS supplied with the batch. Slight SO₂ odour — use in a ventilated area.
