A low pH membrane cleaner is an acidic clean-in-place (CIP) chemical that dissolves calcium carbonate, iron and metal-oxide scale from RO and NF membranes. ZEELCHEM 9005 buffers near pH 2 so it restores flux and salt rejection without damaging polyamide thin-film membranes.

Low pH Membrane Cleaner overview
ZEELCHEM™ 9005 dissolves calcium carbonate, iron and metal oxides, fluoride and other acid-soluble deposits. A properly sequenced low-pH clean, followed by a high-pH clean when organics are present, brings normalised permeate flow back to baseline.
The solution is self-buffering near pH 2 ± 0.5, safe for polyamide thin-film membranes within manufacturer limits.
How Low pH Membrane Cleaner works
The acid formulation dissolves carbonate and hydroxide deposits and complexes iron, while its buffering keeps the cleaning solution inside the pH range membrane makers allow.

Dosage and dosing point
In 100 L of RO permeate: 2.5 gal for 4"×40", 4 gal for 6"×40", 6 gal for 8"×40" elements. Circulate 60 min, soak 60 min, flush.
Compatibility
Use before an alkaline clean when the foulant is mainly inorganic. Never mix with the high pH cleaner.

Handling, storage and safety
Acidic liquid: causes eye and skin irritation. Wear chemical goggles, nitrile or PVC gloves and an apron; keep an eyewash nearby. Store in the original closed HDPE carboy, in shade, at 5–40 °C, away from strong alkalis and oxidisers. Do not store in mild-steel or aluminium containers. Rinse spills with plenty of water.
